In 2009, the chief of the Preeriakoda made the first snowshoes himself from material obtained from nature. The goal was to make something pleasant and a practical tool for travelling in marshes and bogs.

The following winters offered plenty of snow and the opportunity to develop these simple snowshoes further so that the workshop would be compact enough and the snowshoes would be reliable.

In the first two or three years of testing, a few hundred kilometres of marsh and bog snowfields were already accumulated on various craft snowshoes. In the guided workshop, each participant can make their snowshoes and test their handiwork on the enormous marsh massif that starts near the campsite.
